Per Shaggy:
Hello everyone. You all know me as a model guy who loves to buy and sell. But I still like to build when I find the time. This is a project I did in 2004. It is still my favorite. It is from a 1980's Monogram Datsun 1/24 4x4 Snap Kit. I only took one before photo. I didn't know 4 years later I would some day be listing it in a forum model show or I would have taken more. The yellow truck shows what the basic factory look was before I restored/modified the truck.

As the after photos show I modified many things. The roll bar, wheels/tire and suspension were all removed so I could make it into a lowrider. The new suspension was from another mini truck kit I used for parts that fit perfectly on the old chassis. I removed a portion of the cab to make the pickup into a convertible. The door handles were shaved and filled before the primer then dark blue metallic was applied. I got rid of the brush guard and factory front bumper and added a low profile ground effects kit piece from my parts box. I completely removed the rear bumper and bumper posts.

When I was into real mini trucks in college it was popular to just leave the back bumpers off. I left the factory 4 cylinder motor in place. I used a tonneau cover from my parts box that fit well. I added low profile wheels and tires. The rest of the project required just finishing the chassis, interior and engine paint and then adding a few decals. This model still needs a few pieces like mirrors and engine wiring. Please let me know what you think of this project. Kerry/Shaggy.

Thanks for sharing your model Shaggy.  Making models of the type of 1:1 vehicles that you were directly involved is what brought a lot of people into the hobby.

Thank You for your kind words. Yes Tom I would be interested in that 1932 Ford. Your right Dave my interest in Lowrider Trucks started in the early 90's and did start my love of building them as models. Shaggy.
